Apostle Andreas Monastery
A 15th century chapel is the oldest surviving part of the monastery which has been the most important destination for the Orthodox pilgrimages.
Kantara Castle
Erected on the edge of the steep mountain range and strategically positioned to protect the Mediterranean coastline. The castle was designed by the King of Cyprus (James 1). In 1525 the castle was neglected by the Venetian conquest as an unpopular site.
Aphendrika
Aphendrika is one of the six most important ancient cities of Cyprus at the beginning of the 2nd century BC. The area is the host to three churches, Haghios Georgios, Panaghia Chrysiotissa and Panaghia Asomatos.
Haghios Philon
Built on the foundations of Hellenistic and Roman structures this early 5th century was destroyed during the Arab raids of the 9th century. In the 12th century a domed Byzantine structure was built on the remains.
Panaghia Kanakaria Church
The church was built in the 14th century as a multi-domed church. The mosaics in the church represent Madonna col Bambino et Ogissanti which are a note worthy example of early Byzantine art in Cyprus.
